I’ve made and posted this dress before in a black aztec jersey here but I liked it so much I made it again. This time I made it out of this gorgeous lightweight rayon knit. This fabric is so light it almost feels like you’re wearing nothing which is great for hot southern summer days. The high front slit helps with ventilation as well. LOL Seriously though if you’re not comfortable showing leg or live in a breezy area it is imperative that you tack the front skirt piece to the back skirt piece a few inches down to prevent having a Marilyn Monroe incident while walking down the street.

I actually made this dress months ago but just realized yesterday, when I wore it, that I had never blogged it. So here it is. I really love every view of M6744. Just this summer I have sewn every view except for View C. I may have time to whip one of those up before the temps drop to low. Read my full pattern review below.
Pattern: M6744 View D
Pattern Description: Pullover dresses have bodice variations, elasticized (seamed) waist, and narrow hem. A and B: fitted bodice. C and D: mock wrap, very loose-fitting bodice with elasticized shoulders.
Sizing: XSM-MED, LRG-XXL
Difficulty: 1/Easy
Fabric Used: Blue and White stripe with peach flowers rayon knit
Does it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
Likes: I like the overall design but especially the use of elastic casing at the shoulder seams instead of gathering. I HATE gathering.
Dislikes: None
Pattern alterations or any design changes made: None
Would I sew it again? Definitely, I might try a solid.
Would I recommend it to others? YES!!!
Conclusion: This is a tried and true maxi dress pattern.

I love this pattern as well! I hate gathering also, I bought a gathering foot from Amazon but I haven’t used it yet. I’ll let you know how that goes. Great fabric! Did you get your exercise in this week?!

I like gathering on my serger better, if I can do it that way I do. Let me know if the gathering foot is better, I might try it. I think I have one.
Yes I made it to the gym Monday and yesterday and walked Tuesday. I’m down a little from Monday.

I Love Love Love this print on you. I’ve made this pattern in s bold print too and always get comments when I wear it. As for the gather g foot, I have one I must of had for year and recently found in a draw. OH MY GOODNESS. It’s great. So much quicker. I can’t believe it’s been with me all the time and I never used it!!!

Thank you. I love a bold print for a maxi. I’m definitely going to see if I have a gathering foot.
