A look back at 2017

I don’t always write a end of the year recap post, but I’ve made several pieces that I just love in 2017. Let me share them with you!

I started the year off with a BANG! I sewed 10 items in just two months for my Pattern Review’s Sudoku Contest entry. The rules were to create a wardrobe consisting of 4 tops, 4 bottoms, 4 accessories, and 4 footwear. Each vertical, horizontal, and diagonal row had to contain 1 item of each type (making a complete outfit) and each item must coordinate with each other item in its row. This resulted in 10 unique outfits.

Below is the list of my Top Seven makes of 2017

  1. Little Red Dress: Vogue 1513 a Fabricista Post
  2. McCalls 7577: March’s Fabric Mart Guest Post
  3. Red Hot Summer Halter Dress: A Fabricista Post
  4. Blueberry Criss Cross Jumpsuit – Vogue 9259
  5. Red Poppy Swimsuit: SewSewDef RiRi
  6. Reversible Bomber Jacket: Simplicity 8148
  7. Winter (Navy) Blues: Made by a Fabricista Guest Post
Vogue 1513: I loved and still love this dress. The flounce is everything!
McCalls 7577: I love a jumpsuit and this one is so casual and comfy.
Vogue 1546: This dress might be my favorite make of 2017. I love all the details from the ribbon halter to the open back to the two piece skirt and pleats.
Processed with VSCO with preset
Vogue 9259: This is my favorite shade of blue and it did not disappoint in the stunner of a jumpsuit.
Sew Sew Def RiRi: This is my first successful swimsuit and I am so proud of it! I plan to make a couple more this summer.
Simplicity 8418: This was not my first bomber (and honestly I prefer M7100 because of the pocket placement) but I love that this jacket! Reversible items are a personal favorite because what is better than two looks in one.
Closet Case Clare Coat: This wool coat is right up there with V1546 for my favorite piece of 2017. A fully lined wool coat has been on my to sew list for a while and I’m so glad that I finally conquered that goal. I’m so proud of this coat.

I hope to push myself even more this year by tackling overalls, jeans and lingerie.

What was(were) your favorite make(s) in 2017? What do you plan to challenge yourself with in 2018?
