Upon my very first make of New Look 6301 (here) I stated it was my favorite wrap bodice dress! In full disclosure I was confident that this dress would be my favorite of the four (SPOILER ALERT: It’s not) and that’s why I decided to include it even though it wasn’t really a wrap dress. I chose to pair this chevron/arrow print ITY (my favorite print out of the four I selected) with NL 6301 because of how much I loved my first version.
One of my fave things about this pattern is the bands for the neck and arm holes. I just feel it gives a more finished look than a narrow hem. It is not hard at all to cut and add strips to any other knit pattern, but I like that it’s included. The pleated bodice is also appreciated because it eliminates the gaping you can have with some wrap bodices.
Another great fitting detail is the skirt pleats which give more shape to the garment. Although this dress would certainly work without the ties, I don’t mind them as they are placed at my natural waist (unlike the first dress in this battle). I left out the elastic at the waist because I simply saw no need for it.
