Did you miss my latest make for Fabric Mart’s Fabricista Blog? If so, go check it out (here) for my full post. Scroll down to see my quick review and to see the two ways I styled these overalls.
* a quick random question…how do you abbreviate Burda (ie S8513 or M6886)? I use ‘Bu’
Pattern: Burda 6599
Pattern Description: Bibbed pants have always been wonderfully comfy and are making a comeback this season. Sew this classic style in canvas, denim, or print twill, short or long!
Sizing: 6-18, I sewed an 18
Difficulty: 3/intermediate mostly due to the poor instructions (incl. lack of illustrations)
Fabric Used: Green Stretch 19 wale Corduroy from Fabric Mart
Does it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? No, Burda instructions are definitely lacking. If you have sewn pants you won’t need them anyway, but if you haven’t or (just prefer step by step instructions w/illustrations) you are out of luck. If I can find the right fabric, I could be convinced to record a sewalong. Let me know in the comments, if you’d be interested.
Likes: button sides, back bib, tapered leg, shorts option.
Dislikes: front pocket shape
Pattern alterations or any design changes made: I drafted my own front pocket and tapered the leg just below the crotch to the ankle, remove 2″ from the hem.
Would I sew it again? Maybe, if there is interest for a sewalong or if I decided to make the shorts view. I still have the Jenny overalls to try.
Would I recommend it to others? Yes, if you like the style and don’t need clear instructions.
Pattern: Simplicity 8513

Bodysuits can be made with a mock neck, crew neckline, or a deep V-neck. Mock neck bodysuit has the option of being long sleeve or short sleeve with cold shoulders. Crew neckline bodysuit can be made with long bell sleeves. Deep V-neck bodysuit can be made with a wrap front or with a lace-up front.
Sizing: XS-XL I sewed an XL (should’ve sewn a L)
Difficulty: 2/easy Only tricky thing could be the snaps.
Fabric Used: Floral double brushed jersey from Fabric Mart *sold out similar here
Does it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very

Dislikes: None
Pattern alterations or any design changes made: None
Would I sew it again? Yes, I love bodysuits. I want more of this view and a wrap as well
Would I recommend it to others? Yes

You should! This one is really simple and I love the Cannes and Ferri by Kommatia patterns.

I made this same bibbed pants using Burda 6599. I agree that the pattern instructions were not easy to follow. And, yes I would like to see you do a sew along to this pattern. Thank you.
