2020 Mid Year Round-up

2020 has been quite the year and it’s only six months. COVID-19 lead to teleworking, home schooling, mask wearing, mask making; several murders of innocent black people lead to a protests, much needed racial conversations, and a willingness by some to learn a history they’ve never been taught. Add to the the a presidential election year accompanied by issues of voter suppression. Oh and don’t forget the threat of murder hornets, the cicadas are back and locusts are devouring eastern Africa.

Some of us lost our sewjo, some made hundreds of masks and others used their added free time to build their loungewear wardrobe. I did a little bit of all of these. I started off the year at a pretty consistent pace, then around March I was slammed with Project Run and Play, a collab with McCalls and a pattern test. Come April I needed a it of a break, but COVID was on the rise and people needed masks, so I got going on that. By May I had started to adjust to the “new normal” and my sewing picked up a bit. Then George Floyd and the racial tension in this country was high and my emotional well being was low.

All in all I made 25 garments (give or take) in the first 6 months of 2020. Check out the collage below and scroll down for a link to all of the reviews.

  1. I’m very impressed! I don’t know if I’ve cranked out 25 garments in my lifetime—-and I’ve been sewing on and off for years! Your garments are lovely and in the midst of the many storms and challenges you were still able to be creative—-impressive!

  2. These are all of my favorite makes of yours this year! That grey and yellow coat/cardigan with the coordinating blouse underneath–::chef’s kiss:: Perfection!
