I thought this pattern was cute when it came out in the early spring release, but I’ll admit I was going to skip it due to the cut out. Then I thought…nope y’all getting this body midriff and all. LOL Turns out it shows very little anyway.
M8253 is unique in it’s style but also manages to be pretty versatile offering 3 skirt and 3 sleeve options as well as the option to gather the skirt. Additionally there’s the option to color block the bodice.
I opted to make the shorter, sleeveless version (view A), but I didn’t color block. The trickiest part about this dress is the casing for the bodice gather and it wasn’t that difficult. There was a good amount of narrow hemming along the neckline, armholes and bodice bottom, but everything come together quickly as there are only six pattern pieces
I believe this double brushed polyester is from Fabri Mart, but I won’t swear to it. I love DBP because it’s got great stretch and recovery and is a nice weight. It’s so soft and smooth that’s its amazing to wear, though it can be a bit warm.
Animal prints always catch my eye even this black and white version. I guess this is a leopard print and I think it works well for this dress.
None. Though I will go back and take in the bottom bodice a bit at the side seams as I have a bit of a gap there.
A really cute dress that is in line with the cut out theme without showing too much skin.
