Sequins and Velvet Jogger Set

Miss Socialite, like most little girls (and many women), loves this trend of reversible (or mermaid) sequins. I bought her a reversible sequin tablet case and now she wants sequin storage boxes and pillows for her room. So of course when Joann started carrying this reversible sequin fabric I knew I had to make something for her to wear. They have a few other colors here. All are great!I knew I wanted to pair the sequins with velvet and though white seemed to be the obviously complementary color I was not about to use white velvet for a child. Miss Socialites favorite color (at the moment) is a turquoise when I spotted this stretch velvet at my local fabric warehouse I knew it was the one.I put off working with this fabric because I had heard several horror stories of working with sequins. Thankfully I didn't have any problem! I opted not to trim the sequins from my seam allowance and instead sewed slowly with a 16/100 knit needle. I even serged, though I'm not sure that will be great for my serger in the long run as I'm sure some sequins got into the machine. Luckily, I have two so I decided to risk it. I did trim one seam and it did sew with easier since sequins weren't flying everywhere, but it took me entirely too long. I will note that with the reversible sequins it is important to smooth them all in the downward direction before pinning or clamping. You don't want rogue sequins at the seams.I used to TNT patterns for this outfit McCalls 6785 which I've made up here and here and Simplicity 8268 which have already made here. I modified M6785 to create the top. I added 1" to the hem of the top and replaced the peplum with a hem band. The hem band two pieces, one each the width of the front and back hems by 5" wide, which results in a 2" band. I added sleeve cuffs is a similar manner. I also eliminated the hood and used the neckband from View D.The joggers are Simplicity with my typically crotch and hem length adjustments.She is the one who decided to pair it with her Uggs since we had snow, which is so rare here. Didn't use them, but yes.Likes:  Easy pattern to sew and hack for other looks / Easy peasy, Love that the kids and adult sizes are in one pattern envelope.Dislikes: I altered it to fit my needs / None, but I do need slight adjustments.Pattern alterations or any design changes made: Added 1" to hem, hem band and sleeve bands. Also swapped hood for neckband of View D / I added about 1/2″ to the back crotch, added lengthWould I sew it again? Yes until she outgrows these patterns.Would I recommend it to others?
