Summer Separates Navy Collection: Wrap Top
If you missed my Navy Mini Collection reveal, check it our here. Yesterday I shared my first make from my mini collection, see it here and today I'm sharing the second piece, New Look 6560. I love this wrap top! I've sewn it before (here) in a olive stretch chino and declared it my favorite wrap top. This time I sized up partially because it was a tad tight last time and secondly I'm a few pounds heavier now.

I chose to include this top in my collection because I felt it would work well with both the shorts (M6965) and the skirt (S8927). Honestly it worked better with the skirt than I could've even imagined. I originally planned to wear this top untucked, but when I tucked it in and removed the sash I realized that the wrap of the top and the skirt *almost* matched up creating the look of a dress.
So you see this wrap top works with almost any bottom; shorts, pants, skirts, jeans. Check out the three additional looks I created with pieces that were hanging in my closet.

I've also paired this top with other items from my closet. This rich navy worked with all the blue hues of my DIY skinny pants (S8655). I love a good white pant for summer, and beyond, but I'm always worry about wearing them for fear of getting them dirty LOL! I'm going to change my thinking on that because these white pixie pants from Old Navy (here) worked with my entire collection! Of course you can always play with colors and introduce a neutral like this olive/sage green and these camel booties. These are Old Navy Pixie pants as well (here). I have several pair because I just love and they come in a overwhelming number of colors, lengths and fabrics. Red, yellow, eggplant and gray are a few other colors that would work well with navy.
As I stated in my first review of NL6560, I love the top, but hate the instructions. Sewing it again just reiterated that for me. Thankfully nothing is tricky or difficult about this top so it can easily be sewn by anyone whose sewn a woven top with facings without much guidance. This time I used a snap instead of the button it requires but never tells you to sew in the instructions.Pattern: New Look 6560Pattern Description: These on-trend ruffle tie-waist shirts feature a real wrap design with sleeve variations.
