T-shirt Bodysuit: Studio Calicot Jimmy
Overview:
I tested the Jimmy a while back, but the pattern has recently been re-released. A great basic tee is a necessity in any wardrobe and I love that this one is a bodysuit too. It works great with high waisted jeans and stays tucked in with skirts and shorts.
Pattern:
I'm a fan of Studio Calicot patterns and I love bodysuits, so it's no surprise that I'm pleased with the Jimmy T-shirt bodysuit. I love that this pattern finishes the leg openings with fabric bands versus elastic enclosed in the hem. In my opinion this makes for a more comfortable wear.
Another feature I haven't sewn in any other tee was a neck binding for the back neckline. I've seen this featured in RTW tees and I believe it is for comfort and reinforcement. At first I was a little confused, but I followed the steps and it worked perfectly.
The Jimmy is a pdf pattern that comes in sizes XXS-2XL. Both a A4/letter (just 12 pages) and a A0 file are included in the download and have layers so you can print just your size. Illustrated instructions are included as well as a sewalong.
Fabric:
This green ponte knit is remnant piece left over from a previous project and thankfully I had just enough. This is a great scrap buster project as it requires just over a yard of fabric. Thankfully, I had just enough to squeeze out these pieces.
Modifications:
At the time of testing the size range was XS-XL and I was a tad past the XL measurements so I added 1/2" to the width of the front and back. I also use snap twill tape instead of installing individual snaps.
