Just in time for summer: True Bias Zoey

Overview:

I haven't pattern tested in a while, but I was delighted to test for True Bias for the first time. Introducing Zoey, True Bias newest pattern, a strappy tank just in time for warm weather.

The Zoey was simple to sew, one of my favorite things for spring/summer makes. I made both of mine within two hours from cutting to hemming.

Pattern:

True Bias describes the Zoey Tank and Dress as a fitted knit tank top and dress. All views have a soft front V and low scooped back neckline as well as banded armholes and necklines. There are three views:

  • View A - a cropped tank

  • View B - a hip length fitted tank

  • View C - a tank dress that flares from the hip line

I chose to sew view B as hip length tanks are a summer staple for me, but I could see myself sewing all of the options. The cropped tank would work with high-waisted jeans and also midrise if you wanna show a little midsection.   The dress is an easy breezy dress for a spring day or summer. Any view is a great base for layering.

The construction may vary from what your used to for a tank because of the bands used to finish the neck and armholes. The instructions are spot on and even offer two methods to finish the bands, one for beginner another for intermediate.

Fabric:

For my final version I used a black and white striped jersey knit from Fabric Mart. The fabric is a little thin but not see through for a top - I wouldn't try a dress. The straps are a heftier black knit.

I used this fun sugar skull knit fabric that I've had for YEARS for my test version ! I think I grabbed it from remnant sale at Hancock (it could've been Joann)

Modifications:

As a tester I know that they added about an inch and a half to the length which was the only change I noted that I would make in the future. (hopefully you can tell a difference in the pics above)

Summary:

I love quick patterns that use a yard or fabric or less for summer tops and the Zoey fits the bill!
