The perfect summer dress: Simplicity 9597

This may be my new favorite sundress. The spaghetti straps, open back, the gathered skirt it all screams summer.

Pattern:
As soon as I saw this pattern I knew I had to make it. Then I saw so many great versions of this dress that I had to move it up in my sew list. Though I love the dress there's a jumpsuit option as well so you can take your pick.
Unlike the other summer Mimi G pattern, S9598, the construction of this dress was intuitive. The bodice is simple and the skirt is even easier. Word of the wise this pattern doesn't need much ease because the bust actually needs to fit pretty snug if you're going to wear this dress without a bra. I didn't consider this and cut a 24. I ended up having to remove about 5/8" from each side of the back pieces to get this fit. I'm a 42 C/D and I feel pretty supported. Next time I want to create more of a corset back so that I can adjust the fit of the bodice.
Now let's have a honest moment I, briefly, considered not making this dress because I knew my back rolls would show, but I've got to practice what I preach. So here I am.
Fabric:
This gorgeous deadstock DKNY challis from Fabric Mart. I love black and white prints and animal print so I love this print!!! Unfortunately it's sold out now, but I'm hoping they can get some more because my daughter wants this exact dress. I can't seem to sell her on any other fabrics and I used every bit I had to sew mine.
When it first arrived I was a bit concerned that this fabric was too sheer for use as a dress. Thankfully due to the gathers of this dress makes it's not an issue. Also I love how this lightweight fabric drapes and moves.
Modifications:
I only deviated in one area, I interfaced the straps and my challis was quite lightweight and the "girls" are not! LOL
Next time (and there will be a next time!) instead of buttons I plan to place loops on both back pieces to create a lace up back. This will require some reconfiguring of the back pieces as they need to be shorter/narrower to create space for the lacing. I'll do a tutorial when the time comes.
Summary:
I think I need at least three more of these; a monochrome colorblock, a solid bright color and bold large scale print. You know I already have ideas.
