I love a knit dress as they are quick to sew, comfy to wear and easy to dress up or down. Aaronica really made this one special with the optional choker neck band, deep V and potential to colorblock.

Pattern:

I was instantly drawn to View B with the neck band and the midi length. The dress comes together quickly due to the limited number of pattern pieces. I sewed a 22 (44” bust and 48” hip) and the fit was spot on. I have won this more than once already and I will definitely be making another one.

The only fiddly part was the neckline facing and that’s simply because I dislike knit facings. Here it really is the best way to finish the deep V neclkine. A band or a narrow hem would likely curly here, the facings is needed to stabilize as well as to give a clean finish.

Fabric:

I never thought I was a polka dot person, I used to opt for stripes. However, recently I’ve been gravitating towards polka dots; large, small, grid, scattered, it doesn’t matter. See here and here.

My local Walmart has been having some great remnants the past few months and this sweater knit was lucky find. I paid just $6 for 4yds.

This sweater knit is lightweight, but thankfully it’s opaque enough not to require a lining. The stretch is amazing! I was a bit concerned about the recovery, but after wearing and washing twice it hasn’t been an issue.

Lessons Learned:

• Add knit interfacing to the neck band with a lightweight knit.
