Face Cover FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do handmade face covers/masks really offer any protection?
A: While handmade masks do not offer the level of protection that medical grade masks provide there are studies that show 100% cotton masks offer more protection than no mask at all if worn properly. The CDC has recommended that all American wear masks if out even if that’s just a scarf. Some argue that face covers at the very least act as a physical reminder not touch your face.

Still others feel that homemade cotton face masks can be dangerous as they may offer a false sense of security. Please be aware that handmade covers/masks are not medical quality and do not prevent you from contracting COVID-19 or any other virus.

Q: What are your covers made of?
A: Two layers of 100% quilting cotton or Ankara fabric. 100% cotton was the fabric determined to be the most effective while still being breathable as found here and supported here.

Q: Are the cover washable?
A: Yes. Wash in your laundry with warm water and detergent after each wear and prior to wearing to sanitize. Also wash prior to each wear.

Q: Do you offer sizes?
A: Yes. The adult size fits most adults. The Big Kid fits my 12 yr old and will work for as young as a 7-8 yr old. The little kids size has worked for kids from 3-4 to 6-7 yrs old. If in doubt I would size up.
