Seersucker Spring Break Short by ModKid
I'm so pleased to have had another opportunity to test a ModKid* pattern! My prior experiences with both the Leilani Romper/Dress and Wren Dress and Crop Top have been great. I've also purchased the Annika Sweater but haven't had a chance to review it.Back to my latest review of the newly released Spring Break* Shorts. I love them and more importantly Miss Socialite wants more! The shorts come in sizes 2T-8/9 for girls and 10-18 for teens and feature 3 views; straight, slanted gathers and narrow ruffle hemmed.I chose to sew View B with the slanted gathers. I used seersucker, mainly because it's what I had in my stash, and I'm so glad I did. To add a little visual interest I cut the main shorts on the grain but the ruffle against the grain. These shorts would also be great with a pom pom or lace trim at the hem.As usual the pattern instructions were clear and these sewed up really quickly. I don't typically sew shorts in the order included but I followed them for the sake of testing and it worked fine. You say po-ta-to, I say pot-tat-to.Either woven or knit fabrics will work for these shorts and since they take about of yard of 45" fabric, they are great scrap buster. Views B and C could be great for colorblocking and pattern matching.Needless to say I will be sewing several more of these out of a variety of fabrics. Miss Socialite will have all of the views just in time for summer. Mr. Cool may get a few of View A for sleeping shorts as well. As long as he doesn't know they came from a girls pattern, it'll be fine.
