2019 Sewcialists Top 5: Hits

This list doesn't necessarily reflect my most liked or most commented on makes, but these are the five pieces that I love from my 2019 makes. I've worn all but one multiple times this year and that's really the test of a hit![gallery ids="15324,16335,15551,14872,15524" type="rectangular"] Style Sew Me calls her Naomi dress a throw on and go outfit and she is absolutely right. I made it this summer and wore it to several events. It's a quick sew and such a stylish dress to throw on during the hot summer months. I created facings, but this dress is designed to be fully lined and could easily be made reversible with smart fabric selection.I love a cape and McCalls 7477 is no exception. This make was for my November Fabricista blog post and I've worn it countless times since. It is my go to outwear for chilly mornings that aren't cold enough to require a true coat. The only thing I don't like is the lack of pockets, but that could be remedied by sewing the longer view and adding the patch pockets. The Zadie Jumpsuit by Paper Theory was a major hit this year, it may very well be the most made indie pattern of the year. I jumped on the bandwagon and also love this pattern. It comes together fairly quickly and is easy to wear. It is versatile as it can be dressed up or down. I've worn it with heels and with flats. It can be layered over a cami or a long sleeve tee. I also wanted to make another one with lengthened pants. I've also seen a colorblocked version by @athreadthatbinds that I love.Y'all know I love a wrap dress, so it's no wonder that I love New Look 6581. I made it late last winter so I only had the chance to wear it a few times. So now that the cold weather, that I dispise, is back one of the few things I am excited about is wearing this dress again. I have plans for a gray version this season.Sometimes you have to go through a storm to get to your rainbow. And McCalls 7720 was that rainbow after my epic failed attempt to make of Vogue 1490. I was so convinced that V1490 was going to be a gorgeous wedding guest dress that when it didn't work I was almost divastated. Of course, in my typical fashion, I had waited until the last minute to sew this dress, so I quickly had a to come with a plan B. Thankfully, M7720 turned out amazing even though I tackled a few firsts with that project.

Well that's my top 5! What's your #1 hit of 2019?
