The Ultimate Knit Jumpsuit: M4M Aurora
Overview:
Skill Level: ★
Sewing Time: 1-2 hrs
Pattern Rating: ★★★★★
This pattern already one of my faves. I have plans to make several more. It’s extremely comfy and versatile.
Pattern:
The Aurora Playsuit offers so many options! Two bodices, six lengths and optional inseam pockets. I opted for cami bodice and the 29.5” length pants. It comes together easily and quickly, especially if you eliminate the pockets as it can be sewed solely on a serger.
The only issue I had was with the printing. I tried multiple times to get the shelf bra lines and pocket notches to be visible with no luck. I printed from two different computers and printers. Everything else printed out fine, so I’m not sure what the issue is. I was able to draft them up just fine, but I will reach out to Megan from Made 4 Mermaid for help.
This pattern was worth the hassle tough. I love the built in bra which offers support, I added elastic to the straps for structure and the fit is very comfortable.
Fabric:
This fabric is from my most recent fabric haul, see here. I grabbed this double brushed poly from a local Wal-Mart as a 3-yd remnant piece for just $8! I was attracted to the animal print and the colorway.
This pattern is so versatile that almost any knit would work. This double brushed knit makes it a super comfy lounging jumpsuit as would a cotton jersey, but you could also dress it up in a velvet or stretchy sequin. An ITY, rayon or bamboo jersey could go either way.
Modifications:
added 1/2 non roll elastic to the straps for extra support.
cut the shelf bra front and back on the fold to eliminate the seams (don’t forget to remove the seam allowance)
Lessons Learned:
I need one in every print and color
